The AI hype train is not slowing down.

How to exit a hype train moving at super-human speed for the sake of your own sanity?

Microsoft is running business at AI-speed - and will not slow down in the foreseeable future.

Frontier firms, engaged users and especially we as consultants - helping them all get onboard, sit firmly and gain value from AI - are drinking from a firehose of news, updates and feature releases. Many of us are feeling stressed out. My FOMO (fear of missing out) went wild during the last months. The Frontier release phase of Copilot Cowork was another catalyst that brought back my full nerd-mode of the ’90s.

Recently I was able to tune back. What helped? Thinking about real priorities like family time helped a bit, but I still felt able to keep going with three full roles in 24 hours a day: father, consultant with a maxed-out load of ongoing assignments, and tech-nerd-MVP. It took one more piece to really calm down body and mind. For me, that was restarting Japanese sword fighting arts (Kyushin Iaido Kenjutsu) after 13 years.

We all will need tools to gain back control. This cadence has come to stay.

For me, kneeling down without any technology in my reach, without the power to decide the proceedings myself but only following the set rules of the dojo and the commands of the sensei, feels like a very welcome vacation from my own sensei role. Moments of inner peace. One and a half hours plus of escape from the firehose.

I hope you find your escapes as well.
